Question: Burning data files to a DVD-R - how to initialize & burn data files?

I have a new Superdrive from Apple, & I need to burn some (deep) backups for passing out to people with  systems that read DVD's.  How?  I can burn music files using the Music app (all my own w/o copyright issues:), but how might I do that with data files, such as Word, Excel, EazyDraw, Preview files?

Can Disk Utility do that, & if so, what commands using version 19.0?

Running maxOS Catalina, 10.15.2

Have you tried Finder, Select, Right click, Burn to disk? It works for internal drive.
