The flagged virtual "folder" is not accurately keeping track of what is flagged. While the list of emails in the folder is right, it also shows emails that were flagged which I subsequently unflagged. Why is the count of items, and the actually flagged emails not in sync? Mail should remove the unflagged messages from the folder as I unflag them. See the image below.

I understand that you are concerned about the contents of the Flagged folder in the Mail app not updating immediately when you unflag an email. Does the folder update when you go to another folder and then back to the Flagged folder? If so, then it is functioning as expected. This allows you to unflag and reflag content in that folder until you navigate outside of the folder.
If the folder doesn't update after leaving the folder, let us know and we can go from there.

Thanks for responding. No, the flagged folder is still out of sync even after changing folders and coming back, as well as leaving Mail completely then returning. The count of emails at the top of the window is accurate, but the count to the left is not correct. That counter seems to be a consistent problem.
