I'm just checking this is legit
Yesterday I did a fresh install via internet recovery and it installed High Sierra instead of the usual Lion which my iMac was shipped with. High Sierra is the latest version of OSX that can be installed on my computer
Has Apple changed things or does this mean there is malware lurking in my iMac?

So malware dragged you onto a current and supported and more secure release? I’m thinking... not. 😉
Looks like something changed, assuming you didn't use Option-⌘-R. Which would do exactly this.
Apple has been working to remove access to older releases, and to get folks onto more current releases.

Hi, I didn't realise there was a response to my question, I was thinking malware directed me to a false Internet Recovery but yes I pressed Option-⌘-R which explains what happened

Sorry false alarm. Internet Recovery gives you different versions depending on what keys are pressed
Internet Recovery installed newer OSX not original Lion
