flashing touchbar

Hi -

I have a new model macbook pro that is having intermittent flashing of the touchbar. It sometimes flashes a solid white bar across the whole touchbar and constantly has a low flickering of the touchbar. The battery life also appears to die very quickly when not charging. I did update to the newest Catalina OS to see if this would help anything without improvement. I did recently accidentally bump my laptop into a wall and the flickering happened after this.

Should I make an appointment to bring the laptop in?

Best,

Kaylee

Greetings kehman15,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities! I understand the Touch Bar on your MacBook Pro has been flickering since it was bumped against the wall, and the battery runtime is low.

Since this behavior began after bumping your Mac, I suggest having the Mac inspected for additional assistance. The following article will help you to prepare and arrange service for your Mac: Get your Mac ready for service - Apple Support

Additionally, you can see steps for troubleshooting the battery life of your Mac from the "My battery runtime is low" section of the following article: About Mac notebook batteries - Apple Support

Kind regards.

It definitely sounds like the flashing Touch Bar could be a symptom of a hardware issue that occurred after your Mac hit the wall. It could also be a software glitch within MacOS. Your best course of action would be to call AppleCare and set up a repair, or yes visit your nearest Apple Store for servicing. Wishing you the best of luck, I'm sure it'll be resolved promptly!
