Change folder colours on MacBook Air 2017 13.3"

I have a MacBook Air 2017 13.3"

I am trying to colour code my folders for each class/subject I am taking in college and NOTHING I have found is working. I followed YouTube videos step by step. I have also tried doing step by step instructions that I have found in other threads on these forums however NOTHING is working. Is there another secret way that only Apple knows of that will allow this to actually occur? Not a big deal really just much easier for me colour code everything.

You can download this collection of coloured folder icons, it works on Mojave, I use it.

With the download completed unzip the zip file and two folders will be revealed,

ICNS and PNG. If you use the ICNS folder, pick one of the folders and Command-i on it to get the info panel

make sure the Preview option is open. Select the folder whose icon you would like to change and Command-i

on that too. Drag the icon from the Preview section of the coloured folder to the top left icon on the info panel

of the folder you want to change.
