changing email associated with Apple iCloud ID

Hi,

I am trying to change my email that is linked with my Apple ID to a new email. I want to make sure though my iCloud won’t get changed or lost. I already went through settings and changed the email. But now it says to sign out of my Apple ID and sign in with my new one. But then I am worried my current iCloud will be lost
