Audio IC on iPhone 7

when I make or receive calls the speaker sign is greyed out and there is no sound. When I play iTunes the sound of the device is not muted and the headphones don’t work at all. Research last night suggests this a faulty audio IC chip. Where best to fix in central London?

Before you get the device serviced. You will want to do the following




  • Update Device: If this is by chance a software issue due to an outdated version of iOS, the update may very well resolve the issue, so this step is generally advised for older iOS versions after you've ensured you had an updated backup. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204204


  • Accessories: Remove any third party accessories that are connected to the iPhone. This generally applies to a "Battery" case if one is being used. And test and see if this changes the behavior.


Once this is all done, assuming the issue persists. Contact Apple Support and request a Hardware Diagnostic to see if this comes back with any issues or not. They can also assist with additional troubleshooting (if needed) before assisting you with getting an appointment to visit: Apple Service Provider or Apple Retail location for assistance. As needed Mail-In might also be an option depending on your countries service options.
