HP Color Laserjet pro MFP m477 and Catalina

We have printing and scanning issues in Catalina. When anyone prints it will work and then lock up the printer and you can't print again or even get to the web server. I have left the page up and had one of them print and then watch it go down. Only temp fix is to reboot. Over the past month HP had updates 3 different drivers. All have done the same thing. Switching to airprint has done the same thing to. Print over IP same as well. We reset the printing subsystem which also didn't help.

This appears to be a system wide issue for an upgrade and even a new mac with the system installed.

Also the HP scan feature won't work unless we use the hp smart ap.

Mac mini 2018 or later

The HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477dn, HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477dw, and HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477nw are Apple AirPrint-enabled printers.

Remove the existing printer queue and add that printer as an AirPrint printer. You must specifically select AirPrint. Do not install any software that came with the printer or from HP's website. Refer to Add a printer on Mac.
