Pencil tip worn out after 1 month?

Is this usual wear to have the pencil tip wear out after one month of use? I do use it daily, but not extensively. It's the 2nd generation and I've literally had it one month as of today and notice it was scratching the surface as I wrote, and metal was poking through where it was worn away. This seems extremely fast for it to be worn out. I had a 1st gen Apple Pencil for 6 months and never had even the slightest amount of wear with equal amount of use. Having to replace the tip every month seems excessive. I do have a "paper-like" protector on my iPad, but I did on the last one with the 1st gen pencil as well, again, without any wear after 6 months of similar use.

The Apple Pencil tip is a consumable item. It will wear - and is intended to be replaced as and when necessary.

A rougher surface will abrade the relatively soft material of the tip when used with rougher screen protectors.

To make the actual Apple Pencil tip last longer, there are maker of special silicone tip covers that cover just the tip of the Pencil, now.

The matte-like, rougher surface texture of the Paper-like screen protector is going to cause excessive wear of any stylus tip, including the plastic tip of the Apple Pencil.

It is what it is.

My other pencil was similar use for 6 months on the same screen protector without ever wearing out, though. So I guess I just need to make sure a month is a reasonable time span when used on these screen protectors. I'm not going to stop using them, but I also dislike the idea of paying $5/month for a new tip. I guess at his price and the quality Apple purports I expect a bit more longevity. I do realize it was designed to work on the slick surface, but still, a month... Thanks for taking the time to respond. I'm not an Apple fan to begin with (products are fine, it's the company I have issues with), so it's just another check in the '***' category.
