My mail inbox shows one flagged item. When I select flagged there isn't a email in that folder. I checked all items in my in box and there are no flagged messages. There are solutions for this problem posted in the communities but the solution doesn't work in Catalina.

Rebooting and test...
empty (delete) the trash folder...
Add a bunch of flags, then remove a bunch of flags in an effort to elicit some change.
Deleting the mail account and adding it back in a viable troubleshooting next step.

I have rebuilt the mailbox and run disk doctor in recovery mode.
I have tried that. The flag has not disappeared.
