is there a headphone adapter that works in the opposite

I’ve recently bought a new iPhone 8 which also came with the headphones that plug into the charging dock of the phone. This is fine, but I was wondering if there’s an adapter that would allow me to plug the headphones into an ordinary dock like on my computer or another device since I don’t want to buy new headphones. So basically is there an adapter that works in the opposite way as the ones intended for the new iPhones??

iPhone 8, iOS 13

Reread the question, that is not what they asked to do. They want to plug there Lightning headphones into their computer and play music from the computer, not the iPhone. There is no such adapter to do that. And if they want to listen to music from their iPhone they can just use their Lightning headphones.

By your description it sounds like you are looking for a microphone (opposite of a speaker). Or are you looking for a headphone jack adapter?

There is the Lightning to 3.5 Audio Cable https://www.apple.com/ca/shop/product/MR2C2AM/A/lightning-to-35mm-audio-cable-12m?fnode=97

Or a cheaper option is the Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter https://www.apple.com/ca/shop/product/MMX62AM/A/lightning-to-35mm-headphone-jack-adapter?fnode=97&fs=f%3Dadapter%26fh%3D458e%252B45b0 with a standard 3.5mm audio cable https://www.amazon.ca/AmazonBasics-3-5mm-Stereo-Audio-Cable/dp/B00NO73IN2

The above options can be used to take analog audio out of an iPhone and iPad into a line in jack on a computer. Usually the headphone jack will double as an input or output for audio, it may require changing settings on the computer. It could also be used to send the audio to normal headphones or to a set of powered speakers that do not have bluetooth.
