when i use my own live photo for my wallpaper, it doesn’t move/ the screen goes black. how do i fix this?

Live Photos animate with touch. So using a Live Photo for wallpaper would require you to tap and hold on the screen for the animation to work.

I could be wrong, but I believe the ONLY Live photos you can use on your lock screen are the ones you can choose from the live options available in Settings > Wallpaper > Choose > Live
You said you hold the button down. What button are you holding down. You don't hold ANY button to animate live photos. You hold your finger on the screen.
i do that tho, the picture is there on my lock screen, i hold the button down, and it goes black. then when i release it goes back to the picture, it never moves.
