Activity Sharing

I’m really baffled by this one, both my wife and I have Apple watches for the first time this Xmas and they’re fab, we’re trying to share activities but are being unsuccessful. I can send an invite and so can she and we can both see on our iPhone app and watch that the invite has been sent but neither of us receive an invite. I’ve tried all the self help I’ve read online, signed out of iCloud on phone then restarted both phone and watch which didn’t help, I’ve also unpaired and re-paired the watch, this has also been unsuccessful. Both phones and watches are up to date and all apps are up to date, really stuck!

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, weapon90.

If I understand your post correctly, you and your wife are trying to share your Activity from your Apple Watch and hers. I’d like to help.

Follow the steps in this article:

Get help with Activity Sharing
To compete with friends, you need iOS 12 and watchOS 5 or later. Activity Sharing requires iOS 10 and watchOS 3 or later.
If you paired more than one Apple Watch to your iPhone, the Sharing tab won't appear in Activity until you update all your watches to the latest version of watchOS
If you see an error when you try to add a friend or send an invitation
Sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, then sign back in:
Tap Settings > [your name].
Scroll down and tap Sign Out.
Go back to Settings > Sign in to your [device], then enter your Apple ID and password.
Tap Sign In.
Try to add your friend or look for the invitation.
If you still can’t add a friend, make sure that they have an Apple Watch and that you haven’t added the maximum number of friends. You can add up to 40 friends.

See the full article here:

Share your Activity and compete with friends with your Apple Watch

You mentioned that when you send the invitation you are both able to see that it was sent but neither of you receive it. If you are still unable to share let us know if you are each using your own Apple ID.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Take care.

Been having the exact same issue now for over a year. No amount of support, re-pairing, signing in and out of iCloud, etc will work. The issue has even persisted through brand new watches and phones. We had iPhone XS Max and Series 4 with this issue. Thought maybe iPhone 11 and Series 5 would finally fix it-- nope.

There is a fundamental issue with her account somewhere and they can't find it. The only fix would be creating a whole new Apple account which is just ridiculous.

Hi, many thanks for the reply. We’ve tried signing out of iCloud and then back in and rebooting the phone and the watch but to no avail. Yes when I invite my wife I can see a sent invite at my end, but she doesn’t receive it.

YEs both signed in using our own Apple ID, we are on family sharing though and I’m the organiser so we share my Apple ID for iTunes and App Store but both signed in to iCloud under our own Apple ID.
