Somehow everything in my icloud is now appearing in my work google drive - I do not know how this happened, how to prevent it from continuing and how to delete over 11,000 items it synced to drive? Please help. Thank you!

First, check to see if the files are still in iCloud. Here is a link to help recover the files if you need it:

Your Apple ID and password is signed in with system preferences > iCloud , in which gmail services is used .
The gmail address and password is same as Apple ID and password , you exported files from google account and downloaded them into Mac , and then imported them to iCloud Drive as iCloud Drive box was checked , in front of it you can see options button , the desktops and documents box was also checked see the article https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mac-help/mchle5a61431/10.14/mac/10.14
You can sign out the gmail account to stop using google drive .
