Removing 'From My Mac' photo albums on an iPhone

How do you remove 'From My Mac' synced photo albums on an iPhone? I already unselected those albums in iTunes when my phone was plugged in, but the pictures are still on my phone after trying that several times. please help!

As a brute force method you could try to enable temporarily iCloud Photos Library on your iPhone . iCloud Photos Library is incompatible with iTunes Sync, so enabling iCloud Photos will delete all synced photos from the iPhone. Do not enable "Optimize iPhone Storage", other wise iCloud may remove the saved photos as well from the iPhone. Once the synced albums are gone, disable iCloud Photos immediately again, before all your photos will start uploading to iCloud.
