Charged for albums

As an apple music subscriber, I thought we could download songs for free. Iwas charged for several albums i added to my library. I’m confused when /why I am charged for downloading or adding to my library. could you please clarify the process completely?

Apple Music allows you to add items from the Apple Music catalog to your library without purchasing them, but it doesn't prevent you purchasing items from the iTunes Store that you intend to keep beyond your subscription to Apple Music. Use a link that says Add to Library and you shouldn't be charged beyond your monthly subscription. Click on a price and confirm the purchase and you will be charged.

Basically it comes down to where exactly you go the Albums from. The iTunes Store will still allow you to purchase items regardless of your subscription status.

If using the iTunes Store, you will be charged .

If using the "Browse" and "For You" tabs in the Music app, then you are within the Apple Music Catalog and will not be charged.

You can dispute them, but unless you can prove they were charged in error by Apple themselves, i.e you were not actually purchasing them in the iTunes Store but still got charged, then they are not likely to be refunded.

If you by mistake tapped on the price and allowed the purchase, then they are unlikely to be refunded unless you can provide a convincing argument.

Its recommended to be polite and understanding when requesting the refund for best results.
