Can I burn a movie that I already bought on DVD and add to Apple TV?

Some movies on optical media may have a redeem code for a “digital copy”. If those are valid for iTunes, then you could add that.

If the DVD is a commercially produced on, it is encrypted. In the U.S., removing that encryption, a necessary first step in copying, is illegal. Therefore, we can't discuss methods of copying such DVDs on these Apple owned forums.
What about the older movies that have that option?
So I'm guessing rules for movies are different than music? Cause I loaded almost all of my cd's to itunes years ago. Itunes even updated them with cover art.
That is correct, the rules are different for DVD and CDs. Similar looking media, totally different licensing.
