Turn off preview icons?

Hi I would really like to turn off the preview icons across the board in OS X.

I've tried unchecking Show View Options > Show Icon Preview and it does absolutely nothing at all.

I have a 2017 iMac and I'm running Mojave 10.14.6.

Can anyone help?

Could be corrupt plist

delete the com.apple.finder.plist

Found here Finder>Go>Go to Folder

copy and paste:

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist

delete the plist, Relaunch your Finder from the >Finder>Force Quit>Finder>Relaunch

Apple may have written the Mojave Finder to provide a list view where one has an image file with the attendant generic, or Preview image icon. But without icon is likely not an option.

Over the last several years, I do not recall anyone asking for the image icons in list view to vanish — thus, no applicable solution comes to mind.

Perhaps this is an obscure feature in one of the Finder replacement products?
