Image Capture 8.0 (1106) HP 8600 Multi Function

No scanning since Catalina. I always used Image Capture. Now the device is not seen. I can print, using AirPrint. It seems that without the HP driver, Image Capture cannot work. I have tried installing the HP Easy Scan and it fails. This is a horrible disruption to my workflow. I have posted this with HP. However, my question is about Image Capture, not Easy Scan. Why can't the device be seen? It appears in Printers and is shared. Is this because the driver was 32bit? I scanned all my apps before updating. I fell down a hole here, because I wasn't using Easy Scan, I was using Image Capture. If I had known it wouldn't work, I would not have updated. What is Apple's take on this?
