On the Canon discussion board someone is complaining about "locked" images:

There is obviously some confusion - claiming to be using iPhoto in Catalina for example - but has anyone ever heard of such a thing?

Perhaps the user has patched iPhoto with Retroactive, so it can run on Catalina (https://github.com/cormiertyshawn895/Retroactive/). It works, but iPhoto will be crippled, because it can no longer use the 32bit iLife frameworks. More likely, "iPhoto" is a typo and the user is actually using Photos.

I have never seen a lock on imported photos in the Info in theFinder. But I am not using file vault or are keeping the photos library on a time Machine volume, or similar.

Can that particular camera model in question lock selected image files, to protect them against accidental deletion? Then the imported copy might be locked as well.
