My daughter has an iPhone XR but when I text her the messages are green, like she isn't using an apple product, they're usually blue when apple products text aren't they? I dont know how to fix this. I have made sure her iCloud data is set up, her imessages are turned on...still nothing. Also when she texts me, her phone number shows up and not her name even though she is saved as a favorite in my contacts.

We are at home so she is connected to home Wifi. I turned her cell data on and that fixed it. She still shows up as a phone number and not a name when she texts me though.
Unless you have some sort of restriction on number of SMS messages you can send, it doesn't really matter that much. However, when you get a chance, try resetting her network settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network settings. The only thing she'll lose is saved WiFi passwords.
If she doesn't have an active data connection (either WiFi or cellular) at the time the messages are sent/received, they will be sent as SMS messages.
It sounds as if she wasn't actually connecting to the WiFi.
Delete her contact and message threads. Add her back.
I dont meant to be ignorant but I dont know what delete her contact and message threads means. Are you saying delete her as a contact on MY phone, delete her messages and then add her back into my phone correct?
Ok I deleted her as a contact and all her text messages, I added her back and her messages are green again.
You seem to have understood perfectly! That's exactly what I meant. Sorry it wasn't more clear.
She is now a name but back to green messages. Her cell data is turned on and we are on our home wifi. I have to get ready for work so I guess I will have to fix this later. Thank you for your help.
