IOS 13.3 Whatsapp push notification not working

Hi, with the new IOS 13.3 the Iphone 7 not receive Whatsapp push notification.

All the settings in the iphone and whatsapp are correct, i've re-installed the app, i've reboot the smarthone but nothing change.

It's of course a IOS 13.3 bug because until yestarday (that i've done the software upload) all worked correctly.

Have you the same problem?

thank you

Hello StefanoBidi1989,

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities. I understand you are having problems receiving notifications for WhatsApp.

I found an article from WhatsApp that may help: WhatsApp FAQ - Why don’t I get notifications?

If you continue to have problems after following the article above, I’d suggest reaching out to the app developer for help: How to contact an app developer

Have a good one!

Just updated the iPhone 7 Plus to 13.6. Still the same issue.

Phones were on the same Wifi network. The messages were 10 mins apart. I just opened WhatsApp app on the iPhone 7 Plus and locked the screen and then proceeded immediately to send 'A' message to the phone from an iPhone XS. The 'A' notification got through. But 10 mins later while keeping the phone screen locked, the letter 'B' notification never showed up, and still not showing up at time of writing.

Hello,

Thank you for the answer but all the setting in the iPhone are correct and whatsapp app is correctly update at the last version from before the IOS update.

The problem is not only with whatsapp but with all the apps: iMessage (completely not working), mail (no push notifications), Facebook messager, Telegram, .... all the apps not receive push notifications after the update to IOS 13.3. I have found many forums in the web with people with the same problem with iPhone 7 so i Think that this is a IOS13.3 bug.

There are someone with the same problem here?

thank you

I am also facing this issue on iOS 13.3, iPhone 8 Plus. Push notifications work correctly at best 20% of the time, sometimes the lockscreen banner won't be there, sometimes there won't be any notifications at all. The affected apps for me are Discord and Telegram. It's a bit hit and miss, and I cannot understand why the notifications are not working, given the fact that I checked my in-app-configurations and my notification settings in the iPhone settings menu and everything should be working fine. Reboot didn't help, issue occurs both on Wi-Fi and cellular network. Any news about this bug?

Hi has this issue been resolved?

i am having the same problems on my iPhone X and the problems only surfaced after updating to iOS 13.3.1.

I am not receiving push notifications from both telegram and WhatsApp. Only when I open the app, will the new messages then load and come in. It seems like the apps are only retrieving the messages from the servers when it’s open and not in the background. All my settings are correct. I reset all my settings and then did a hard reset yesterday when the problem surfaced..which worked for about 5 hours before the notification problem came up again and I stopped receiving them.

does anyone know what’s wrong? Or how to fix this permanently?

I am having the same issue with iOS 13.3.1 on a 6S. Not receiving any notifications or banners from any app. This is urgent. I can’t have every app on my phone open so I can look at them to see if any messages come through. I love overseas and am traveling in the US for a few weeks. My wife and son are at home. We had a major problem today, and I did not see the messages, because the notifications never came through.

What can we do to fix this??

Notifications are completely controlled by the app development team. If you are getting notifications from other apps then notifications on your phone are working. If you are not getting them for specific apps then you will have to work with the provider of those apps. For WhatsApp and Facebook that is Facebook. Interesting coincidence that it is two apps owned by Facebook, isn’t it?

Notifications are not completely controlled by the apps! Actually I’ve noticed the new iOS did made modifications to the pushes in general, so I’m pretty sure they’ve changed things on the backend and it’s likely to be what’s causing the problem.

I’m having the same issue and I can see it is not related to the device/model or to the apps. I work within the tech industry and I’ve done literally everything that crossed my mind and I cant fix it, it is a bug - please correct it ASAP as it is really annoying :((

and YES, I have reboot my phone, deleted and reinstalled apps, check all in-app and phone settings, do not disturb mode and BLE aren’t on and obviously it is not because it is on mute!

Hi,

Issue started yesterday and I was wondering what the problem was. This morning I updated to iOS13.4.1 and I am still not receiving notification until I open actual Apps. It is positing a lot of issues for me specifically because we are using WhatsApp as a major form of communication with work colleagues during lockdown. This is resulting in me missing a lot of comms coming in both on iMessage and WhatsApp.

Devs can you prioritise and have this resolved ASAP please.

Same here. I posted here earlier on as well. I am still not receiving whatsapp notifications.

I remember reading through my own research online on one of the dev forums that Apple quietly changed the way notifications were handled in the newer iOS. But I'm not sure as well as I have still been unable to receive notifications on whatsapp despite updating it constantly.

I wanted to try deleting and downloading the app again as that would completely remove any possible app settings that I am unable to change on the UI. But unfortunately I am also unable to backup my whatsapp to the iCloud despite having enough space and trying all the methods like logging in and out of iCloud, resetting network settings iphone settings all settings. Upload is always eternally stuck at 5%.

Long story short, I don't know how to fix it either and Apple doesnt seem to be doing anything about it. Maybe we just need more people to make noise about this problem before they address it proper...

This is a user-to-user forum. There are no devs here. In order for notifications to appear on the phone the app provider must send a notification. If they app provider does not send a notification you can’t get a notification. So ask WhatsApp support why they aren’t sending notifications. Considering that the latest version of WhatsApp breaks the sharing feature of iOS for all apps, it appears that WhatsApp has some serious problems.
