IOS 13.3 Whatsapp push notification not working

Hi Guys

Try uninstalling WhatsApp and reinstalling it again. Seems to have worked for me. Now push notification has been restored and I am getting my notifications even when phone is locked.

No man.. it didn’t work also. Maybe the problem is on the connectivity. I tried different cellular carriers and I saw the changes. The network carrier that I use doesn’t work well with voip notifications such as whatsap, viber, etc, including imessage. Then I tried my “other” cellular network, tried different attempts at different times, it worked flawlessly; real time notification worked on whatsapp and other apps. Revert again on my original network carrier, bug persistent again. I don’t think this is hardware related, it is a SOFTWARE related issue.

why? Because whatsapp is working properly on my original network carrier on my android phone. Using whatsapp on 11 Pro max with original network carrier doesn’t seem to work properly.

Same problem with my iPhone 7. Notifications from 3rd party apps like Viber, WhatsApp and Messenger don’t work. I see only notifications for regular calls, FaceTime calls and iMessages. Not sure about Microsoft Teams.

All notifications work fine on my wife’s iPhone 11, although the settings are the same as in my iPhone 7. It looks like the problem is with the older phones?

I've been having this problem since updating to 13.5.1 , nothing has worked and I've had two chats with apple advisors regarding the problem which have failed to solve it for me. I have restored all settings, rebooted, uninstalled/installed apps.

It's not just whatsapp but all third party apps (not apple).

I'm convinced it's an apple/iOS development issue.

It also makes me miss calls on those apps.

to anyone that wants a resolution, I got one:

I did a backup of my phone onto my computer, then reset all data and all settings (which deletes everything off the phone).

Then restored my phone from the backup and now it's all working fine.

Yes it is, it really is. I already tested this with my 11 pm and my fiancè's XR. Both from the same networks using cellular data. I'm having a hard time contacting her IF I use chat apps such as viber, whatsapp, etc using cellular data. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN when using WIFI (data off). Also, I found out that using other network works fine. I don't know why and how this happens.

Upgrading to ios 13.5 is my biggest regret. You know before this pandemic i used to leave my phone at home while accessing my IM messages on my work computer. Imagine when i have gone back to work i wont be getting any messages the whole day(iPhone 7)

Wife's iPhone 7 Plus also has this issue. My iPhone XS luckily doesn't.

Her WhatsApp and WeChat (yep, the problem is with iOS and not developers) do not give out notifications nor load messages unless she opens the app. All settings are ON, background app refresh is ON, iOS version is latest, restarted the phone multiple times. The cellular or WiFi choices didn't make any difference, the notifs still didn't go through.

No idea what's wrong. She's now using iMessage as the main platform (which works for her, but not for some here) but since so many of her work colleagues use Android, this is becoming a serious issue affecting her work. We thought it was because her phone is old (iPhone 7 Plus), but reading this clarified that it is happening to the X series too.

Apple please investigate.

Yeah man. That's exactly what I did between my fiancè's XR and my 11PM. You should try video calling or calling with screen locked :) let's see the result(s) if you still receive the call in real time :)

This is very frustrating. I just reset all settings and still didn't work. I don't want to go through the trouble of erasing all data then restoring from backup when the problem is in the software.

Apple, please take note and help. We can confirm this is not on the dev of the apps, as the problem persists on different apps (in my case WhatsApp and WeChat both notifications did not go through).

I’m having the same issue with iPhone 7 iOS 13.5.1.... no WhatsApp or Messenger push notifications. Very very occasionally a few come through.... it’s a real pain missing ppls messages when you’re making plans.

I too have seen this with both Facebook Messenger and Google Hangouts over the past few weeks.

If it’s an iOS 13.3 bug why isn’t it affecting my phone with iOS 13.3?

It has gotten better for me, without any update, but still not perfect. Most problems appear when people reply shortly after I lock my phone, then I won't get lockscreen banners most of the time.
