Watch 4 message mirroring

On my Apple watch 4 although mirroring from my iPhone (xs max) is on for calls , messages , etc, the messages remain on the watch and i must delete them manually

I have it picked for “mirror my phone” but specifically when I delete messages from my phone, they are still on my watch. Or when I read a message on my phone, it will not show its read on my watch. Which means it’s telling me I have X amount of unread messages and I really don’t. I’ve tried resetting and updating, but no luck.

Apple Watch Messages Hello! I am trying to figure out how to mirror the text messages on my iphone and apple watch. When I delete a message off of my phone it does not delete it off of my watch. Is there a way to sync my phone and watch so that when I delete a text message off of my phone, my watch will reflect that so I don't have to delete it in two different locations manually? Thanks!
