My iPhone 8 Plus with up to date iOS is having an issue connecting to my BMW X1. When I use the USB port, my music and nav instructions work fine but my phone disconnects from Bluetooth and can’t use it through system. When I turn on my radio or listen to SIRIUS XM on the car, my phone works but can’t access my iTunes music or get Bluetooth nav instructions.

Go through the following link for some steps that can help resolve this issue. Pay special attention to the sites under ‘If you connect using Bluetooth’ as well:
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod doesn't connect to or work in your car
If the issue continues after that, unpair your iPhone and car stereo. To do this, go to Settings > Bluetooth and tap on your car stereo. Tap on the blue info button and then Forget this Device. Restart your iPhone and pair them back together:
