Since updating to Catalina, when I preview a gif in Finder it doesn't play correctly, frames freeze and don't play at the correct speed. If I open the same gif in my web browser is plays just fine.
Is there anyway to fix this, or has anyone been experiencing the same problem since updating to Catalina.?

No animated GIFs interactively play in the Finder on High Sierra 10.13.6 (17G10021), Mojave 10.14.6 (18G2022), or Catalina 10.15.2 (19C57). I have several, and they are inert until displayed in Quick Look, or opened in a browser.

Would it be possible for you to post one problematic gif to dropbox, google drive or similar, and post a link here so we can test?
For me, they play correctly in the Finder's preview pane, and in Quicklook.
In Preview, they show as a still image, no animation. That has been like that as far as I can remember.
Please clarify exactly what you are doing. Select a gif in the Finder, and press the space bar to open in Quicklook. Does it play?

I have tried the Safe mode restart on my mac and the problem still persists. It is not a problem with being able to view the GIF's in Preview, I can view them, but they are not playing as they were when I exported them. If I open them in Chrome it plays fine.

It's not a problem with viewing the gif, it's that it is playing incorrectly from how I exported it.
I select the gif in Finder, open it with spacebar, it plays, but now correctly.
If I then open it with Chrome, or send it in email/slack it plays correctly.
I've only seen this problem after the new OS update
FWIW, took a look at your gif. The first time I viewed it, it stuttered some but didn't freeze. Now it's fine. I suspect it may have something to do with disk activity, such as Time Machine backing up. Not sure.
I'm having the same issue with certain gifs, I haven't found the correlation with the ones that freeze. Have you found any solution? Because I don't think Apple will anytime soon.. maybe for 10.16 ..........................................

That's not the case. The few gif's I have all animate in the Finder. If we could post videos here I would.
Well, they are not playing here with Preview set to the default Get Info application. Not on El Capitan 10.11.6 either. Don't see any obvious setting to change this.
They don't play in Preview. They play in the preview pane of the Finder.
