Photoshop layers not showing in Final Cut 10.4.8. Anyone know why?

Using both photoshop cc 2018 or 2019 to create a layered psd for animation in FCX but they import in as a single image. I've noticed some older psds do come in as layers...so I'm a bit confused if its a photoshop or FXC problem. Anyone with this issue have it resolved?

I was still having this issue, although I've been using RGB for all video work. In the "Save As" menu in Photoshop, I somehow defaulted to a checked box for "Embed Color Profile: HDTV (Rec. 709)". When I unchecked this box, all my layered Photoshop graphics imported correctly, and the file sizes, which had recently ballooned, are now about 1/15th of the size when saving w/ Rec709. It appears this "issue" is only a Photoshop issue, and not a FCP X issue. I'm sure someone can explain in more detail?
