Is there a way to verify if a computer is stolen when you buy a used one. It is in a sealed box

Hi there,

I've purchased multiple used Apple products, and the short answer is no.

Your best bet is to ask the seller (if able) to provide as much detail about the device you are interested in. If you're buying in person, make sure to test it out first and check iTunes/iCloud and try to log in. For safety reasons, I wouldn't recommend using your own Apple ID.


If you do end up purchasing a product that wasn't as advertised, I know eBay and Mercari both have excellent customer service representatives that will work to get you a refund.
