I am trying to open an iMovie Library stored on an external disk and I get the error message "The operation couldn’t be completed. Permission denied - “iMovie Library 1” is already in use by “me” on “my-imac”.

Can anyone advise how can I get around the 'permission denied'?

imovie for mac permission issue similar question as others on permissions. All of a sudden I am trying to Share file and getting message that export failed; I don't have permission. I can't find the current version in Finder (prior versions are there). Also can't see where Rich recommended trying to "unlock" file. Uninstalling and reinstalling seems complicated. Hope everyone is virus free! Thanks

Try it in Safe Mode...

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?
