Old Apple ID

In settings under iMessages it is showing an old Apple ID. When I click on it a box pops up. Change location, sign out or cancel. My question is if I sign out can I sign back in with the correct ID and if I remove the old ID what am I loosing if anything

Old Apple ID can’t be found I have an old Apple ID I have not used in years. When I open iMessenger on my new iPad it wants me to sign in with the old Apple ID. When I click “forgot password” and I type in the old Apple ID when it asks for it, it says “No Apple ID found”. It’s preventing me from opening iMessenger with my current Apple ID. How can I get this old Apple ID off my iPad or iMessenger? Thanks

2 Apple IDs / iMessages phone number I purchased a new iPhone. I logged out of old Apple ID and created new one and logged in. Is my phone number still linked to old account for iMessages?

You should be able to sign in with the correct ID. When changing IDs, you will lose any messages associated with the old ID.
