issue with opening Airdrop files

I've been recently trying to open files that II've created in jpeg format from photoshop to open them on my iphone from my laptob, but even though the airdrop says the transfer was complete, the iphotos app opens on my phone but without the photo I sent it. Is there an issue with the jpeg file or something? Finder states that the file is still a jpeg and still opens on my laptop, but I don t understand why the photo doesn't show up on my iphone when it says on Mac that it was sent?
