No Dolby Vision thru Onkyo TX NR656

i recently purchased a new Vizio PX-75G1 4K TV. It is Dolby Vision capable. And is updated to latest firmware version. I have an Apple TV 4K which passes the Dolby Vision signal directly to the TV. However, when I try to connect the Apple TV (latest firmware also) thru my Onkyo TX NR 656 (also with latest firmware), I lose Dolby Vision capability. I just bought an Amazon FireStickTV 4K which DOES pass the Dolby Vision thru the Onkyo. I’m using good HDMI cables all Dolby Vision capable. How can Amazon figure this out with a $25 stick and Apple not?

Same issue for me. Bought a new pioneer vsx934 receiver with Dolby vision pass through, Apple TV 4K and a Vizio pxg1. Only does hdr, not Dolby vision 60hz. Contacted pioneer and onkyo and here was their response:

This is an issue we are looking into. At the present time we are waiting on a response and investigation from Japan. I do not know when I will have an update on this but will retain your email so when an update on this issue becomes available I can forward it to you.

On the phone they basically blamed an Apple TV firmware update breaking it and that it would only do Dolby vision 30hz. No time frame on a fix. Super frustrating.

Yep! Super frustrating. I read several things and decided to try new cables... I ponied up for the Belkin 8K cable from Apple as several people indicated that solved issues. I also bought a 8K cable from the AVR to my TV... still no DV.... I’ve also read about ATV firmware being the problem. With the rumor of a new ATV coming soon, perhaps there will be hope. I don’t want to HAVE to purchase a new ATV, but, if that solves the issue, then, I may just do that.
