I have Music and iTunes store apps, but the problem is without iTunes when I connect my iPod to my iMac it doesn't see it, so I can't load the music from my Library onto the iPod. Need to get iTunes, but on connecting to iMac shows message that I need OSX10.11.4 or later to use iTunes, but how do I change to this.

If you're using a Mac with OS Catalina on it, you add music to the iPod using Finder. iTunes is not used on a Mac using OS Catalina.
