IPhone Storage

Phone: iPhone XR

Storage: 64 GB

Weeks ago, my phone and apps keeps on crashing down. I thought that it might be because of my phone storage.

So I decided to check my Iphone storage in settings and says “42.4 GB” of my storage is because of photos. So I deleted most of my photos. To my surprise, the 42.4 GB shoot up to 43.6 which does not make any sense because I freed up some space!!

I am not able to turn off my phone so I waited for it low its battery.

Now that I turned it back on, my photos went from 43.6 to 35.41 GB. BUT “OTHERS” CONSUMED A LOT OF SPACE AND IM SO CONFUSED WHAT “OTHERS” ARE!!!

I’m starting to think Apple just want me to buy iCloud storage :( im so upset I deleted memories from my phone just to see how inefficient this phone is :(

Other grows over time and is a collection of data, cache, website data, etc. You can reduce it significantly by backing up your iPhone, then restoring it from backup.

See this link for guidance --> Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support

If possible, do it using your computer as the best method. But restoring from iCloud backup works as well.

Ps: When you delete photos, they don't immediately delete. Instead, they go to a folder called Recently Deleted, where they stay for 30 days to give you the opportunity to restore some or all if you want. If you delete photos and want them completely gone, go to the Recently Deleted folder and permanently delete them to free up space.
