iCloud not syncing with MacBook

Hello,

When setting up iCloud on MacBook it's not syncing the information that can been seen when logging into www.icloud.com while iPhone is syncing just fine with iCloud. When turning on iCloud on the MacBook some very old notes from 2015 show up which are not even on the iCloud anymore.

I've tried to sign out and sign back in, I've restarted, updated everything that can be updated and I've even added a new user with same apple ID on the MacBook and still getting the old notes.

Has anyone had this problem?

Try going to System Preferences/iCloud (Apple ID for Catalina) and stop syncing by unchecking the box. Wait a couple of minutes, then check syncing. Allow time for the sync to complete.

Last resort  - have you tried signing out of iCloud and then sign back in?

Even you create a new user in Mac https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mac-help/mtusr001/mac

You have set up a new Mac https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT205749

And iCloud https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/icloud/mmfc0f1e2a/icloud

You are using the same Apple ID and password to sign in the Mac , the old notes were already saved on the iCloud server , so in your Mac system preferences > icloud when notes box is checked , the old notes it can be from year 2015 or from the previous years will definitely sync , as they were saved in the server ( the same Apple ID and password syncs to the iCloud server and data syncs from iCloud server to the notes application of Mac ) .

Regarding your iPhone it has been set up and you didn't altered any setings ( didn't signed out and signed in or changed the Apple ID and password ) so the notes are stable in iPhone .

Hello Eric and thank you for replying. I have tried all that you described, the strange thing is that the iCloud is in sync with what is on the iPhone but the MacBook is not in sync. Actually the MacBook is syncing some old data that is not even on the iCloud when you go to www.icloud.com and login via browser. So it is almost like the MacBook is syncing with an old image on the iCloud server.

On the MacBook I even tried to setup a new user, logged in with the same apple ID as before and setup the iCloud and still was syncing some old data, notes from 2015 that we are not seeing when logging via browser.

I'm getting completely confused on this - I have heard of others with the same problem that were not able to fix and gave up. Is this maybe a know iCloud error, do you know?
