16" MBP Crashes (Sleep transitioned timed out...)

My brand new 16" MBP (running 10.15.2) constantly crashes when I leave it unattended. I've seen other posts similar but no real culprit identified. It happens sometimes when connected to an external monitor and other times when just on its own and I close the lid and keep it on a table, sofa, etc. Has anyone had any luck on this?

Apple Support is generally not helpful, all the typical "fixes" don't work (re-install, NVRAM, etc).

Make an appointment at the Apple Genius Bar for service. If you need to find an Apple Store - Find a Store - Apple. Also, see How to find your nearest Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) or Distributor (AAD).

Hi jtmtech, I had a similar-sounding problem and was able to correct it – after several unsuccessful troubleshooting steps – by doing a complete disk erase and fresh Catalina installation. This go-round I elected NOT to do a Migration from my old MBP, and so far this approach seems to have defeated whatever was my culprit.

In my case my system would always crash after sleeping overnight or after an hour or so more in sleep mode.

Hope this helps you, and/or others visiting here. Good luck!
