Tracfone says my iPhone SE does not support VoLTE and I should contact Apple for a fix or a new phone.

I live in a rural area of Washington State. I know others with iPhone SE who are using VoLTE over the Verizon network in my area.

I access the Verizon network via Tracfone, as do many others in my area. My phone shows LTE connected. (A test app says signal strength is high, at -47dBm.) But when I try to enable Voice and Data, either nothing happens or I get a message to contact Tracfone. The phone just goes back to LTE Data only. I purchased my SE new, directly from Apple. My wife has an SE she bought on eBay. It also cannot get VoLTE.

I have spent hours on the phone with Tracfone. They insist that my phone must not be VoLTE compatible, even though the Tracfone site itself says the SE is compatible. They say there could be something wrong with my phone and thus it's Apple's problem. I don't believe it, but am looking for suggestions.

After I got past the fifth Tracfone support person, they agreed to send me a new SIM card to try. But at the same time he also said their system showed my current Tracfone SIM card was VoLTE compatible, implying once again that it was a phone problem.

Incidentally, using iBackupBot, I searched an iTunes phone backup for any hidden APN profile that might be affecting my connections. There is none.

Of course, Tracfone insisted their equipment is working fine. I do see that I am getting an LTE connection for data.

Other than that, I don't see any way to test further. The nearest bigger place, with different towers, is 2 hours r/t away, over snowy roads. The LTE apps can show LTE signal strength or antenna locations, but not whether VoLTE is working.

I should add that several weeks ago, I got a text from Tracfone telling

me it was time to turn on VoLTE on my SE. The text gave me the standard

directions for doing it in Settings, Cellular Data, that I followed.
