Landscape pages with binding on short edge

I'm making a simple sign for a shop with open on one side and closed on the other. The document is A4 landscape and the sign should have a single hole at the top so it can be flipped from open to closed.

The default landscape layout prints as if the margin was on a long edge, e.g. if page 1 is held in portrait orientation and turned as if bound on the left edge, page 2 appears with the same orientation.

However, if page 1 is made landscape and turned using a short edge, page 2 is upside down. This means the the back of the sign appears upside down and it must have two hanging points rather than one.

How do I setup the document so that when printed and held as landscape, the back has the same "up" as the front?

Hello ozRob,

It sounds like you're having an issue printing on both sides of your documents as expected using Pages. I understand why you would want to print on both sides of the document as expected, especially since the document will be flipped from open to close.

This settings will have to be configured in the printer settings itself and not Pages. You'll want to check your printer manual and see if you have an option to change from Long-Edge binding to Short-Edge binding in your two sided printer output settings.

I hope that helps.

Take care.

Hi Allen,

thanks for the tip. I had to initiate printing, then poke around in print settings to find the layout option, then the two–sided printing option and set it to short–edge binding. The manual doesn't actually cover it, it just mentions switching between double and single sided.

To me layout is a document setting, I should be able to setup the layout regardless of the printer that my PC is connected to.
