Mac minimum spec for video editing

I want to buy an IMac for video editing - what spec do I need as a minimum

Any Mac will work however some better than others. As a general rule, buy:


  • Best GPU you can afford
  • Quickest CPU you can afford
  • Largest SSD you can afford
  • Buy a 27" with 8 GB of RAM and upgrade to 32 GB from either Crucial.com or Macsales.com


Also, please look at the system requirements for the video editing software you will be using and then determine from there. For example for Final Cut Pro you would look at https://www.apple.com/final-cut-pro/specs/
