I'm trying to update my MacBook Air and it is not letting me as I have to enter as an administrator. I don't know what this is, so I put the same login info that I use to log in, into my computer (same username, and same password), but it says its wrong.

Did you ever change the username of your account?
If yours is the only user, it should have admin privileges. If you changed the name, you may have stripped off those privileges.
If there is another user, it may be the admin user.
Look in Users & Groups system prefs to see if the checkbox next to "Allow user to administrate this computer" is checked.

Well this Mac is originally from my mom, but she later gave it to me as a gift. I tired many times to confirm the update with my mom's login info and it still won't work. I have also tried to log in with my iCloud username and password but it still won't work.
Does your Mom's account show the Admin box checked?
Well, I think I figured it out. I have to log in to the computer with my mom's account and continue from there.
