I recently upgraded my 2017 iMac from 10.12 to 10.15.2.
Until now, I have been uploading from my external scanner to a shared folder using FTP, with the upload ID and password stored in the scanner.
It no longer works under Catalina.
All I want is to enable uploads to one specific folder from one specific local Ethernet address.
Is there any way to do this anymore?

SFTP (FTP through SSH) is supported in Catalina: turn on Remote Login in System Preferences -> Sharing. Username and Password to use are the ones of the Mac's user.
If your scanner supports SFTP you're covered. Otherwise, if you need plain FTP, you have to install an FTP server. There're some utilities on App Store. Just look for "ftp server".

Nope, apparently it only supports FTP and SMB.
The Printer (a Fuji-Xerox DocuCentre) is about 7 years old...

I haven't had any luck with that yet either, but I'm still trying.
Fuji-Xerox has always favored Windows over Mac, so SMB may work better. We shall see.
SMB is supported in Catalina. Maybe this protocol works. It's available in System Preferences -> Sharing.
