office 365- issues with editing word documents

Please can someone help! I purchased the Office 365 package and when I launch the word package it tells me that I cannot edit documents on Word but only view documents. What is going on and how do I fix this? I'm not sure if any of the other applications in the package have the same issues.

Cannot edit docs in Microsoft Word app I recently purchased an iPad Pro, and downloaded the MS Word app. I have an Office 365 account and subscription. I can create and edit new Word docs, but every time I open an old word doc that is saved in iCloud, it opens it but I cannot edit it at all... I cannot type, change font, anything... The only option is to create a copy and then edit that - but this is not what I want. Has anyone come across this, and is there a solution? Many thanks

Downloads for MS Word Documents on Safari are automatically read-only The MS word documents I save from Safari are automatically read-only and I can only exit read-only mode by saving as a duplicate document. I do not have this issue when I download documents from Chrome. I would like the documents to be downloaded with edit-more enabled. I've tested this with documents that I have created and sent to myself and it still comes up at read-only. How can I fix this?

It sounds like you haven't activated the software.

Maybe you have a permission issue with the files.
