I'm not receiving Notification Sounds for the Messages App only when Bluetooth is turned ON and my phone is locked. Nothing is currently connected to Bluetooth, I deleted the known devices, and my Apple Watch has been unpaired.
Through troubleshooting, this is what the problem boiled down to... and I don't know how to fix it.
Any suggestions besides replacing my phone? It is still under warranty.

I turned Messages notifications off in the Apple Watch app and Reset All Settings on the phone. It now works.
It is an issue that shouldn’t have happened where it gets stuck on reading Apple Watch as being connected, preventing notification sounds on iPhone, and requiring a total reset. That is not what anyone calls expected behavior.

But it used to because your Apple Watch was paired, am I right?
Reset all settings of your device under Settings > General > Reset and see how it goes.
If you have Apple Watch it's an expected behaviour that iPhone redirects notification to your watch and stays silent.
You clearly didn’t read my description properly. My Apple Watch is not paired and there are no bluetooth devices paired, so my phone should not be exhibiting this behavior. It is a bug that needs fixing.
