Clean Install- New SSD- High Sierra -Old MacPro

Old Macpro (Using extra internal bays for a 2nd OSX installation)

To Format New SSD, (mounted inside Macpro) while current HD is running High Sierra...

(I can't use Mojave with my video card).

I want to pre-format my new SSD before running HighSierra installer.

My new SSD is selected inside Disk Utility App...

"Erase" button is tapped...

Is the APFS best format to choose?

What "Scheme" is best? (GUID... Master... or Apple...)

I had tried partitioning a 2TB SSD with 1TB APFS and 1TB Mac OS Extended,

but the OSX installer said I needed more space for my system migration.

I had read that it would self-adjust size needs -- wrong in my case.

I want the best format for my apps: text, audio, video and 3d Apps

I keep many old data files.

Can I simply reformat a 2TB SSD all 100% APFS?

Any other settings to be aware of?

Thanks in advance!

Mac Pro

APFS is for macOS High Sierra, macOS Mojave and macOS Catalina.

All earlier OS's are Mac OS Extended (Journaled), High Sierra can run on both.

Scheme should always be GUID Partition Map as that is what the OS requires.

If you are formatting using Disk Utility, from macOS High Sierra, Mojave, Catalina click on View in the menubar

and select Show All Devices. When formatting a disk select the Disk and not any of the indented Volumes.

Give the Disk a name, Format choose as mentioned above and Scheme, GUID Partition Map.
