Text files on Iphone ate up Icloud storage

... and the situation is I cannot find the text files, which I am sure are ebooks. I did not want them saved there but somehow ... I do not know how to find and delete them. They are saved elsewhere (Amazon device storage and other sites). Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I understand there are some files that are taking up iCloud storage. I'll do what I can to help.

Here are some suggestions:

Work through the steps in this article to see if you can locate the storage: Manage your iCloud storage
If you used Apple Books, they might be listed there: Read books and more with Apple Books
If you used Pages at all, some text documents might store in the Pages folder of iCloud: Use iCloud Drive with Pages on Mac
