the macintosh HQ is a read only file and the new relocated file folder is not allowing me to save changes to excel or word documents how do i go from a read only to read and write

Easy. Do a “get info” on the hard drive( Apple+I) and

at the bottom of the window , you’ll see a list of users

and permissions, and a padlock at the bottom. Click on the padlock

to unlock it( you’ll need your login/admin password) , click on the user

and change it, to read/write. The other users should be ‘system’ and ‘wheel’

after you are done, click the padlock to lock it and save changes. Type in password as

needed... and you’re done
