I've an iMac running OS X El Capitan, V 10.11.6. I'm starting to use Gmail and every message I receive goes/and stays in the Archive mail folder. Is there any way to disable/turn off the archive function? Thanks in advance. AndyE

You would have to modify that in the settings for your gmail account at mail.google.com
Google's implementation of IMAP email is horribly non-standard.
