On your iPhone or iPad:

if you are using iCloud mail:

  • Tap on Settings
  • Tap on your AppleID
  • Tap on iCloud
  • Scroll down until you see E-mail (at the very bottom of the window)
  • Tap on E-mail
  • Scroll down until you see 'Advanced'
  • Tap on it and select to put deleted mails in Deleted instead of in Archive

If you are using e.g. Gmail:

  • Tap on Settings
  • Tap on Passwords and accounts
  • Tap on your account
  • Tap on Account again
  • Scroll down until you see 'Advanced'
  • Tap on it and select to put deleted mails in Deleted instead of in Archive
