I've seen it before, and it's getting on my nerves (I'm hysterical, ha ha!)
I made a recording of some vocals. But all functions in the sample editor are greyed out.
Why is that?
I know you can't do it with an Apple loop, but this is a genuine simple audio recording.
And, the track/ recording is not locked.
Sorry, yoyoBen and fuzzfilth, I think I messed up a few things. What actually did the trick was the conversion to WAV.
Aiff, is Apple's own format, hmm?
By "destructive editing", you mean double-clicking on an audio region, clicking the "File"-tap and applying functions?
You are not you able to select a portion of the audio-file?
Can you provide a screenshot?
Uhh... very suspicious:
Don't use a slash "/" in your file name. Don't use any special character in your file name. Never.
Pretty much, but I am able select a portion of the audio...
Go to the Project Audio window, right-click the audio file (not the region) and Copy/Convert from AIFF to WAV, then retry.

Removing the 'slash' in the filename did the trick.
But I didn't Puy it there in the first place. Logic did!
