Black Screen Upon Waking Up

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro 16 inch. When I raise the lid after the laptop has been sleeping for approximately 24 hours, my screen is black and the computer is unresponsive. If I close the lid and open it again, the laptop will turn on normally I have noticed this occur more frequently after immediately plugging in the AC adapter. Sometimes the large green battery icon with percent charge remaining stays on the screen until I flip the lid again. Has anybody else been experiencing a similar issue? If so, what is the fix? I have restarted the laptop and reset the SMC.
